AV, I share your distaste for violence. Sometimes it is necessary, however, to use violence to resist or deter aggression.
For example, it was necessary to use violence to end WWII. It is now necessary to stop the Muslim extremists who want to kill innocent free Westerners.
The U.S. has a lot of faults, and yes- they act mainly in their own interests, but countless times they have shown to be magnanamous even toward their vanquished enemies.

Man is a sinful creature, and to never engage in violence only invites and encourages attacks such as those from terrorists. I wish it weren't true, and I wish that innocent civilians didn't have to be caught up in the process.

I wonder what the death toll would have been had Saddam Hussein been allowed to continue breaking down sanctions through Oil For Food and to continue paying the families of suicide bombers.
