AVAF returns to South Africa

After the success of the last performances at the Joy of Jazz-Festival in Johannesburg, November 2009, Andreas and Friends returned to South Africa for a new adventure.

On the 6th and 7th October AVAF played two shows at the MACUFE Festival in Bloemfontain. On the 9th, Andreas played at the packed arena of Carnival City in Johannesburg, with Walter Keiser (drums), Daniel Kueffer (winds), Greg Galii (keys) and the South African musician friends Yembelela feat. Vus’umuzi Nhlapo, Vuyo Tshuma and Loyiso Makhapela (vocals) and Pops Mohamed (multi-instrumentalist). - - - see video with excerpts of the Johannesburg show!

At the MACUFE festival AVAF collaborated with a special guest from LesotoLechesa Chanjuche conjured a beautifully hypnotic music out of an old canister of motor oil and has enchanted both the audience as well as his fellow musicians on stage. Andreas met Lechesa the same morning when visiting a museum in town and invited him to the stage for a spontaneous session. - - - see video!

After the Johannesburg show, Andreas travelled with Walter Keiser and Pops Mohamed to Capetown for a very special performance: the group played for the inmates of the high security prison of Pollsmore. "One of the most touching experiences", as Andreas and his folks expressed after the event.
