SWISS MUSIC AWARD for “Outstanding Achievements”

On March 2nd 2012 Andreas Vollenweider received a SWISS MUSIC AWARD for his “Outstanding Achievements”.

The award was presented to Andreas by the founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival, Claude Nobs, who unfortunately died very shortly after this event.

Andreas Vollenweider & Friends made their first appearance exactly thirty years ago at the Montreux Jazz Festival July 1981. Vollenweider returned to Montreux with friends new and old on 7th July 2011 for a very special concert evening.

21st August 2010, a beautiful late summer evening at the shore of the Lake of Zurich, Switzerland.
Report of the first live concert of the new and extended "Andreas Vollenweider & Friends", playing in a beautifully pictoresque setting, under the spacious dome roof of the Swiss Circus STEY, for a special and enthusiastic crowd. The event also marked the beginning of an special anniversary year:

"The Watercourse Way"

Andreas and his friends perform at the sold out theatre of the Shanghai Center, June 3rd 2010, playing for a highly enthusiastic crowd.

Vollenweider followed an invitation of the three Swiss cities Zurich, Basle and Geneva for their special presentation at the World Expo 2010. Vollenweider elaborated a special programme, specifically exploring the theme of the project "Better Water, Best Urban Life".

The title says it all: very much following the joined theme of air, breath, wind… Andreas' has put together a mini-live-orchestra: most of the sounds are created either by wind, breath or air!
